The Argentine music composer Gustavo Santaolalla is in town to work with Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao’s on her upcoming movie Dhobi Ghaat. The famous composer for the movie Brokeback Mountain received a warm hospitality by Aamir Khan, who is taking care that his guest does not feel homesick. Except for spending time along with Gustavo, Aamir cancelled his entire work commitments and organized a football screening at his own house. The actor asked everyone to stop the shooting and head to his place for a match of Korea vs. Argentina.

A source close to the actor said, “When it comes to work, Aamir never cancels or skips his meetings. In fact, his whole schedule is planned a day in advance. But he made an exception for his Argentina guest. And since Gustavo’s country was playing Aamir decided to organize a match screening and cheer for Argentina.”

Aamir wanted to sit during the subtitling of the Peepli Live, but when his guest expressed that he wants to see the match, Aamir cancelled all his appointments for the day. “Aamir got a huge screen with popcorns and starters. He wanted to create a party atmosphere and called all his staff to leave their work and attend the screening,” added the source.

It has been months now that Abhinay Deo’s movie Delhi Belly is ready and is waiting for Aamir Khan’s approval. However, the films release is going to take a long time. Sources reveal that, “Aamir was unhappy with the final version of the film and has sent it to a studio in Los Angeles for editing. With this new development, it does not look like the film will release till early next year.”

The English cast of this movie has an ensemble of Vir Das, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Shenaz Treasurywala, Poorna Jaganathan and Imran Khan. A close source involved with this film says, “It is tragic that despite being made in record time of a few months, the film has been stuck on the edit table for so long.” Initially, Aamir was to spearhead the editing but he got busy with his own films. However, when he did see it, he was not thrilled about it. Moreover, he made it known. Since the film has adult jokes and has been made in English, he wants it to be edited like an international project. Aamir already had international distribution plans for Delhi Belly and he thought the film did not match his expectations.

Recently, at the success party of 3 Idiots, many people noticed that Aamir Khan did not drink alcohol. Even a couple of days earlier at his nephew’s engagement party, Aamir did not even have champagne. According to the news on January 1, 2010 Aamir decided to give up smoking and drinking for the rest of his life. Aamir said, “The next time I invite you home, I will treat you with beer, but I will drink nimbu paani.”

When asked him the reason for quitting drinking and smoking he says, “I just felt like doing it from within. There is no specific reason. Yaar I have put on 10 kilos in recent months. Also, sometimes, I tended to overdo the drinking bit. And I hate it when I feel unhealthy. Therefore, I just decided that I wanted to quit alcohol for life. As for cigarettes, I was never a regular smoker. But I have decided to give it up too.”

According to sources, Aamir Khan has roped in three kids from Mumbai local trains to sing for his next production venture The Falling, directed by Anusha Rizvi. The kids named - Durga (12), Nagarjuna (17), Bramendra (18) are discovered by musician Mathias Duplessy, who has given background score to the film. The kids have recorded two songs under guidance of Mathias for the film, which is based on the theme of farmer’s suicide.

“I met the three kids two years ago through the director of The Fakir of Venice, Anand Surapur. They had played for me then. In fact, I have even traveled in trains to check out their talent. They have the energy and talent of gypsies. They’re great singers. Durga is the little princess of the group and Nagarjuna is the lead singer. Bramendra too has a very good voice,” said Mathias.

A source said, “Mathias discovered the talented kids. He learnt that they earn their daily bread and butter by singing in local trains. He found it interesting, got in touch with the kids and things quickly fell in place. Aamir was really happy with the trio’s talent and immediately agreed to record with them. In fact, Mathias is now making a film with a foreign production house where these kids will sing about six seven songs.”

Last weekend, Mathias arranged a small get-together at Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s house to showcase the kid’s talent. Aamir, Vidhu (producer of 3 Idiots) along with their wives were present there and liked the performances by the kids. “The kids gave a zabardast performance. Aamir was very impressed. Aamir and Vidhu may do something for the kids in future,” added the source.

It’s now known to everyone that Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are good friends. Aamir admits, “Yes, I am very fond of Salman. I also spend time with him whenever we can match our schedules.”

Both the superstars share the passion of adventure biking at night. When Aamir packs off all his staff except the security staff at midnight, then it is a signal that he is going to visit Salman.

The source reveals that Aamir directs his vehicle to Salman’s house in Bandra and parks his vehicle there. Then Salman brings out his red motorcycle and goes for a ride with Aamir, while Aamir’s security staff follows them. After the drive they land up at Sallu’s house or Aamir’s place when Aamir’s wife Kiran is out and have some drinks. Aamir even breaks his diet when he is with Salman.

Moreover, Aamir even arranged a special preview of his films to Salman. Aamir had arranged preview of Ghajini for Salman and Sachin Tendulkar, after which Salman gave some suggestions and Aamir implemented those in his film. There was also news that Aamir told Salman stop drinking to look good in Veer.

So it now supposed that Aamir who is currently in Delhi, wrapping up 3 Idiots, might arrange a preview of the film for his best friend Salman. However this is possible only after December 3 as Salman along with other actors Katrina Kaif, Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitley and Sridevi are about to perform at an event in Dubai on December 2.

Prateik Babbar, son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patil claims to fame with Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. For his performance in the film he received Special jury mention certificate at Filmfare Awards and according to Rohan Sippy he is ‘a natural born actor’. Since then the son actor is on the wish list of many filmmakers. In fact he has been signed by big directors in the industry like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Rohan Sippy for a comedy and a thriller respectively.

When asked to the actor, who turns 23 today, about his upcoming films, he said, “My filmmakers, be it Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Rohan, will do all the talking about their films. I’m under a contract and unable to say much.”

However, when asked to him about the controversy which rose recently where he kept superstar Aamir Khan waiting endlessly on the sets of Kiran Rao’s film Dhobi Ghat because he went to Goa on a holiday. He replied, “I haven’t been to Goa in five years.”

“I may be young, restless and even stupid, but I would never keep a senior actor like Aamir waiting,” added Prateik.

Everyone knows that Aamir Khan is perfectionist and no one dare to mess with him when it comes to work. However, Pratik Babbar who is just one film old and also the son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patil dare to do this recently on the sets of Dhobi Ghat. He made the film unit wait endlessly on the sets of the film. Not only that but he didn’t even inform anybody about his absence for the day. Eventually, the days shooting was called off and Aamir had to go back home. Dhobi Ghat is Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao’s directorial debut.

Revealing about the incident, a unit member said, “Frantic efforts to trace Pratik were made, but of no avail. Officials from Aamir Khan Productions made repeated calls to Pratik’s mobile, but nobody could trace him that day.”

After some time, the film unit got to know that the actor is in Goa. Moreover, the film’s shooting was cancelled for next two days due to his absence. “It was very strange of Pratik to go to Goa. He is often spaced-out,” added the source.

However on his return, Aamir gave him a piece of words. He said, “Aise kaam nahin chalega. Please try and understand.” Then onwards Pratik has not dared to skip informally.

Ask Aamir, who recently posted a query on his networking site about what gift he should give to his wife Kiran Rao on her birthday. However to the help of the actor around 2,500 people gave their suggestions. Aamir welcomed all the suggestions, but no one knows what finally he gifted to his dear wife. However he threw a party for her at their Panchgani house on her birthday on November 7.

Buzz is that a friction has developed between actor Aamir Khan and his director Rajkumar Hirani over the importance given to Sharman Joshi’s character in 3 Idiots. The film is about to release in two months and it has turned out that Sharman has stole the limelight even after having the veteran Aamir in it. So now all that Aamir wants is the proper balance of all the characters in the film. He demands the director that he should work on it on the edit table.

However some sources to the actor’s defense say that there is no such thing. The source said, “It just happened. Aamir has no problem being part of an ensemble cast, or even playing a secondary part. If you remember Aamir made an entry in his production Taare Zameen Par at intermission point. Even in RDB, Siddharth had the most powerful role.”

So why is this buzz? The sources added, “Sharman’s role and performance have turned to be quite different from the way Aamir had perceived it. Mind you, he has no problems with Sharman walking away with the film.” No one knows how things went in favor of the young to industry but talented Sharman.

But, Raju, the director doesn’t feel that there is any friction between him and Aamir, to who he takes on high. “Raju is a peace loving man. He doesn’t want friction under any circumstance. And certainly not with Aamir whom he respects and holds in the greatest esteem. But we can’t really blame any of the three parties, Aamir, Sharman or the director for the way things have turned out,” added the source.

John Abraham

The film titled as Bombay Velvet, will be directed by our own Anurag Kashyap and the Slumdog… fame Danny Boyle. However the even more interesting part is that it features you three hottest hunks of Bollywood: Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham.

In fact John was the first actor to be signed for the film, before the much established names (SRK and Aamir) made news. A source said, “This was just after John and Anurag formed a mutual fan-club after working together in No Smoking. Although the film didn’t work at the box-office both John and Anurag vowed to do another film. That’s when Bombay Velvet was born. The film has three segments and John was signed on for the second segment. He will play a real-life 1960s hero of the masses.” SRK and Aamir will play in the first and third part respectively.

Soon after John knew that he has signed for the role, the actor started preparing for the character by reading extensively. John’s role demands him to acquire completely new mannerism and body language. He has to cast off his contemporary style. John admitted that his friends often teased him saying that he has lost the project. But the actor never listened to them and kept on working.

Talking about one of the teasing, John’s friend said, “When he heard that Aamir was signed, John was really happy for Anurag. People told John that Aamir had replaced him but John knew the truth. Even if it was true, he’d have been happy for Anurag. However, Anurag would never ever drop John. After 10 years of struggle in the film industry, John was the first hero who took Anurag seriously. Earlier every attempt to get into the big league had failed. Anurag would rather drop the project than drop John.”

Talking about John’s participation to the film, Anurag earlier said, “John Abraham has drastically cut his price for my next film Bombay Velvet. So even when I work with stars my project becomes economical. I don’t charge any money as a director until the film makes money. After No Smoking, John and I want to make sure our film is accessible to the audience. Today I realise where I had gone wrong in my earlier cinema. I’m working on my weak points. I tend to get repetitive. So I’ve got two writers for Bombay Velvet who criticized me the most for No Smoking.”
