Movie Poster of Kaminey
On Thursday, Puri Shankaracharya Nishchalanand Saraswati, a seer from Puri claimed to prohibit Vishal Bharadwaj’s recently released hit Kaminey saying that one of its scene is degrading Lord Jagannath. The seer has a strong objection to a scene in the film where the phrase ‘Apna Hath Jagannath’ is written above a picture showing a woman in insufficient clothes on a public toilet.
“The scene painted Lord Jagannath in poor light. People across the country should come forward to lodge their protests against such attempts to malign a Hindu god,” he said.
Meanwhile the administrative authorities of the Lord Jagannath temple from Puri are planning to write a letter to producer of the film to remove the offensive scene from the film. Soon after the release of the film on Friday, protests from many other parts of the state have been seen.
To avoid any kind of violent behavior regarding the issue, more security is set up at the theatres in the state. The police of Puri had also filed a case against producer of the film claiming that it is hurting religious sentiments of people.
The film starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra is already declared as one of the hits of the year. The film has received accolades for its direction and best performances by its lead actors.
