Sammir Dattani, a cute guy who is quite famous in Kannada film industry is also grounding is foot in Bollywood. Sammir who started his journey in Bollywood four years back is finding his foot firm in the industry today. He recently impressed the filmmakers and audience with his latest film Mukhbiir. However year 2009 holds many films for him in Bollywood.

Sammir is next coming up with a film in which he is playing a role of a footballer, who later knows that his leg is affected with cancer. But with full determination and courage he manages to run for a Marathon. However the actor himself also have taken much effort for the film from reading cyclist Lance Armstrong’s inspiring autobiography to learning crunches to use and wheelchair to get into the character of Sanjeev.

“I would practice walking on crutches at home. That freaked my mum out because she just couldn’t bear to see me like that,” says the actor.

He later added, “Mani Shankar sir was initially apprehensive about casting me and convincing him was a quite a task. But, when I turned up at his office dressed like a ruffian, he was totally convinced.”

Apart from this film, Sammir will also appear in couple of films including Nisha Chainani’s untitled and Love Ka Tadka. He didn’t get the same success in Bollywood that he achieved in South.

“That one right opportunity and that one correct film that penetrates all boundaries and doesn’t limit itself to a certain circle of people. And, this year I am ready for it,” says the hopeful Sammir.

During the time the actor also has gone through a down time, but his work from South always kept him going on.

“Well, there have been moments when I’ve felt extremely frustrated and there were times when I seriously doubted myself, but then my success in South films always gave me a reassurance that something I am doing is right. In this industry luck often supersedes talent. But, I feel destined to be an actor. So, I guess it’s only matter of time for me to get right up there,” he added.

Talking on a personal front, Sammir says, “I’ve had my share of girlfriends, but am yet to have that special girl in my life. I am waiting for both - her and lady luck. Let’s see what 2009 has in store.”
