After doing a terrific horror Agyaat – The Unknown, seems like everything is becoming unknown for filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. Recently he didn’t recognize Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Banglore airport when the cricketer was approaching him to greet. Instead, Ramu felt that he (Dhoni) is some wannable actor approaching him. More interestingly he said to Dhoni, “Please take my office number. Drop off your photos there.”
Ramu left Dhoni confused. It was an embarrassing situation for the cricketer. Later when asked to Ramu, he denied that he told Dhoni to drop photographs, but agreed that he treated him like a wannable actor. “Yes, it’s true. I’m hopelessly ignorant about cricket. Only after he left, the people with me told that he’s Dhoni. I would like to apologize to him when I will meet him.â€
But the fact is that Ramu still thinks that actors are eager to work with him, even after Agyaat.
Due to unsatisfactory script, filmmaker RGV (Ram Gopal Varma) cancelled his plan to do another sequel to the Sarkar series.
Sarkar released in 2005 earned the RGV much critical acclaim. The film which is tribute to Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather series. Later in 2008, the director comes up with its sequel called Sarkar Raj along with the Bachchan family. But this time the response was not same. May be because there were lots of expectations from the Bachchans, but the film didn’t satisfy it. However for the same reason, Ramu wanted to take the series forward.
In the last part of the series Abhishek Bachchan’s character dies, so the whole responsibility to carry forward the film comes to Aishwarya Rai and Amitabh Bachchan’s character. So Ramu felt that he is still the chance to move forward the story. His writers worked on it to take the story they left in with Sarkar Raj.
“However, we couldn’t do justice to it,” said Ramu.
The same thing happened to Sarkar series that happened with The Godfather series. Response of audience went down with the new series of the film.
“If you have seen The Godfather, the first part where Marlon Brando plays the head of the family is easily the most arresting of the three films,” said the film maker.
RGV built good relationship with the Bachchan family during the making of films, but as there will be no sequel to it, the director says, “My relationship with the Bachchan family (no pun intended) is over.”
“I will make something with the three Bachchans at some other stage in life… But as far as a Sarkar 3 is concerned, it is shelved for sure.”
“My relationship with the Bachchan family is very close. I don’t wish to discuss the extent of proximity of our relationship because I have never done that in print. But yes, I can say that at the moment, my screen relationship with the Bachchan family is over,” he adds.
The renowned film director Ram Gopal Varma claims that the title of film starring Nana Patekar and Bobby Deol, Ek – The power of one is his title. As a result Ramu has dragged the production house of film K. Sera Sera to the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers.
Ramu clarifies that he has registered the title Ek, six years ago and he has the rights with him. Ramu was planning to do the film with actors Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan, but the film get delayed and never took off as he got busy with other films. Now all he wanted today is either the producers should change the title or should make the entire title bold.
One source said, “Ramu does not want any monetary settlement for the title but just wants K. Sera Sera to leave the title. Ramu and K. Sera Sera had many differences earlier and the latter had also taken Ramu to court during the release of Sarkar Raj over the rights issue.”
Now the decision is up to the association. However the film is set to release on Friday, March 27.
